What do people buy?

The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, just behind Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor, and moved more than 315,000 copies, the second best first-week sales for any American Idol winner (behind Ruben Studdard's Soulful which sold over 400,000 copies in its first week) and the third best first-week sales for any American Idol finalist (behind Clay Aiken's Measure of a Man which sold over 600,000 copies in its first week). The album also debuted at number two on the Worldwide Chart. However, the album's sales kept up so well that with its Quadruple Platinum certification, Some Hearts is the best-selling debut album coming from any American Idol finalist. It was certified platinum four weeks after its release for shipments of over one million copies, double platinum in early January 2006, triple platinum in April 2006, and quadruple platinum in November 2006. The album has sold 3.7 million copies as of November 2006.
