While Robert Baltovich was convicted for the 1990 abduction and murder of 22-year-old Scarborough resident Elizabeth Bain, his attorneys now contend that Bernardo was in fact responsible for her death. Canadian television continues to cover this story extensively. Witnesses testified about seeing Bain with a blond man in the days before she vanished. There are numerous other links between Bernardo and Bain, but a Canadian publication ban stands in the way of much of the information getting into the public domain. Regardless, on December 2, 2004, the Ontario Court of Appeal set aside Baltovich's conviction and ordered a new trial based on some of this evidence.
